Yakima bike racks - which "wheel on" one to get?

Price really isn't a factor in this case, looking more at which one would be more stable at highway speeds and be the easiest on the bike.

King Cobra:

Raptor:

I understand that fork mounts are much more stable, but we don't really want to mess around with yanking the wheels off and stashing them while traveling.

Anyone have a preference over one or the other racks?

Magnum > King Cobra

Sorry for the threadcrap, just dreading going to work at 5. Raptor is a much cooler name anyways. 😛

No station wagon loving. Boo! Anyway...

Not the least interested in a trunk rack of any sort, nor the hitch rack. They are just a major PITA to put on and get anything out of the hatch area....like our dog 😛

Along with the bikes we'd have a small space booster up top for golf clubs/camping gear/ect and at some point kayak or snow skil holders, so the rack system is the way to go for us.

i had the raptor. the KC looks much more stable but the Raptor did the job for sustained distances and highway speeds. I also had a steelhead which is not that big of a PITA as it would seem because of the quick-release forks..

I still have all of the carriers as well as the rack and fairing with locks all the way around and brackets for a Maxima and Passat. I took all of it off when I sold the Maxima and now the stuff is just sitting in the garage. I don't know how Thule is but the Yakima stuff seems to degrade too quickly. The crossbars are severely rusted on the ends.

To bump this...
I'm also looking for a bike rack for up top...How big of a pain is it to do a fork-mount? It seems like too much to remove wheel, put up top, go, remove bike and replace wheel...I do a lot of around-town driving, but interstate @ ~70mph is also up there...How good is the Raptor at high speeds? I'm just really concerned about stability with these things...Thanks...

EDIT: Also, what about the plastic clips? They should hold on well, right?
