YAJT: When do you get paid first on salary?

I start a new job this Monday. The company gets paid every 2 weeks. Does this mean I won't get paid for a minimum of 3 weeks (if they are between cycles) or a maximum of 4 weeks (if they start a new cycle this monday)?

Depends on how your company operates. I started mid-pay week at my company and received a paycheck the following pay day for only 1 weeks work. After that I was on normal rotation.

So you started on a Monday and had a paycheck that Friday? Or you started on a Monday and had a paycheck the following Friday?

Is this a trick question? You get paid when everyone else gets paid. You don't have to fulfill a full two-week pay period before you get paid.

Some companies might have different policies though as mimendo states.

My employer pays biweekly (you work week C and D, and on the Friday of week D, get paid for work weeks A + B). I started on a Monday that did not start a new pay cycle (was half way through the pay period). I did not get a paycheck that Friday (which was payday); I had to wait until the following pay day (effectively, 3 Fridays from the first day I worked).

But yeah, policy differs.
