there are some federal labor laws, but in many states the state laws are more strict/in favor of the employee than the federal law
 
Rest Breaks: Under Minnesota statutes, an employer must allow each employee adequate time to use the nearest restroom once during each four consecutive hours of work. Although it is more generous than required by law, the most common practice is for employers to allow two breaks of 10 to 15 minutes per day according to the EA survey on policies.

hrm, I still cant figure out what my employer should be giving me for a break, I usually only work 3-5 hours a day at this job and I can understand no break for less than 4 hours, but I remember reading something in the inicial contract that I signed before work stating I am rewarded for every 4 hours of work, I get 15 min break.

Ask for a copy of the contract. At minimum, they have to let you go to the bathroom if you work 4 or more hours in a row.
 
Yea, I'm pretty sure it's federal law for hourly employees. At Taco Bell, if I worked 3 hours I would get a 15 min break, and if I worked 6 hours I would get a 30 min lunch.

Damn manager. Always schedule me for 5.5 hour shifts on weekdays. :|
