YAJT: Job duties are boring

My job is getting extremely repetitive and mindless. The pay is sufficient and the people are easy to get along with but I find myself waking up in the mornings dreading to come to the monotony that is everyday worklife. Thing is that some of the skills set forth in the job description when I applied to this job are not even required for the stuff that I'm responsible for doing. Is the fact that I don't feel challenged anymore something I should bring to the attention of my boss or is my only alternative to find a new job? If this is something I can reasonably bring up to my boss without me seeming like a whiny b*tch then how can I do so? TIA

Tell him you have some extra bandwidth and you would like some more work to do, or ask him if you can attend a training class for xyz function. If you do the same thing every day then you're just a commodity.

Work sucks, but you can always tell the boss you are interested in trying something new. Perhaps there is a new project you can take over or something you can do for another department.

Replace yourself with a shell script, and quit showing up to work, see if they notice.
