My current situtation:

I have been working as a contractor at a internet company in the analytics department for 12 months now, with my contract ending in 6 months. My manager here was my manager indirectly at my previous company, also in analytics department at a financial company, but I was full-time there for about 3 years.

My problem is that I am debating what to do in the near future for my career... Tomorrow, I am going on an interview for another company with a 12 month contract. Financially, this makes sense as the pay at the new contract job is $3/hr higher - about ~$8K more yearly - and there is possiblity of overtime beyond the 40 hour mark, where currently I have no overtime.

Since I have been working with my current manager for over 4 years, I do have loyalty towards her, so let me explain reasons why I am looking elsewhere. It isn't just about more money...

Lately, I have become more dissatisfied with working as a contractor here. I was recently moved into a cube that I have to share with another contractor - before I was in an office with 2 contractors, but it was much quieter and more private. In addition, the past few weeks have been less busy than normal, so I have not been doing anything productive or challenging. This past week I have been done almost nothing at all. There are a few other reasons, but these are the main things recently.

My questions:

Is it good etiquette to leave early in a contract for another contract? My friend told me its generally looked down to leave early unless its for full-time employment.

Also, I am open to working in my current position as a full-time employee with all the perks - including my own cube. Should I wait until the interview turns into a firm offer before I negotiate with my current manager regarding what my chances are to become full-time?

Any other insights you can provide would be usefull. Thanks for reading.
