That's a pretty generic title, what kind of IT specialist? Software, programming, networking, hardware...? The paycheck also depends on where you live. I remember when my buddy got out of college in NYC & got a job as a graphic designer for $25 an hour right off the bat. Sadly, that meant he still had to live with his parents due to the high cost of living in his area 😛

About 28,000-35,000 USD

I used to make substantially more then this when I did it full-time but that was pre-recession and it was a different world.

Now I still do it part-time and considering how little I actually work the money is pretty good but not steady enough to live on so I have to have a "real" job too.

Yeah it's pretty a generic job title. The job involves everything, support, backup, network and virtualization, evt. What's the next step career-wise after being a so call "IT Specialist" for a several years.

Screw IT specialist. I'm an Intelligence Analyst where I prepare written and oral assignments based on the sophisticated collection, research, and analysis of both classified and unclassified information.

Sound fun? Join us at the NSA today!

I'm in the process of developing a new crypto system for two-way radios. Now I need a patent agent.
