going for an informal interview tomorrow, was wondering what ATOT thought would be some good questions to ask my potential employer (note: i am currently employed, just looking for something more satisfying)
me = MS in material science and engineering interviewing at an engineering consulting firm.
here are some things i initially thought of:
what are expectations of an employee with experience but not necessary in the consulting business? how will these expectations grow with time?
what are performance metrics? how quantitative are they? how are goals and objectives set?
what are the organization's priorities in develop a scientist/engineer's skills (technical vs project/contract management, budgeting)? how do you provide for technical growth?
what opportunities and mechanisms exist for an employee to contribute in expanding the consulting business or growing technical capability within the organization?
is basic or applied research performed, or do you collaborate with R&D facilities to develop/transition technologies?
do you actively promote involvement in professional societies and STEM education, and if so, how?
first "real" job interview i suppose, since my current job i got through a scholarship for service program.
