I was selected for jury duty last month but after all was said and done, they didn't need me.
I was there for 2-2 1/2 hours, and a few weeks later I received a check for my time. $12.00 :Q

How can the court system pay LESS than minimum wage? Isn't it a FEDERAL law?

Somebody told me once that that only applies if a place has atleast x number of employees (don't remember what the exact number was). How many people were there? :p

Uh, that's above minimum wage. Federal minimum wage is $5.15/hour.

Anything higher is tacked on by the state or the municipality.

My county pays $5.00 per day and mileage one way.

I guess they expect you to leave your car at the government center and walk home.

We get paid our hourly wage if selected for jury duty.

Jury duty in Jersey City paid $5/day... very considerate considering that taking the train = $3 + long walk, and driving = +$15 in parking. kind of a joke, really.

taking into account lunch and cabs, I was losing $10/day, not counting money that I'd be losing by not working.
