Cliffs at bottom

Well I had a couple interviews last friday, and I got offers from both. One being a larger company, that my dad has already been in for over 20 years. The second is a smaller company(15-20) people.

The larger company would be a 30-45 minute drive for me, but I'm kind of used to it because that is how far I drive for school, of which I'm still in. I would be part-time and then when I get out of school there is potential for full time. They are paying me roughly 36K a year figuring in overtime and on call bonuses. That would jump to around 40K if I were to go full time. It is also down in the metro area of MN, so it is going to be a lot more busy. The job was specified as "support center technician." I believe they will pay for school if I were to go back, or help atleast. And after a couple years, there are more positions to move into depending on what I want to do. That is figuring I go full time.

The smaller company does software development, and I would be a support guy there too. I would also have different tasks, since the company is so small, everyone pretty much runs everything. Right now they have about 350 businesses using their software, and believe they are going to get a lot bigger. They don't have nearly the benefits the larger company does such as 401K. They said something about medical, but I doubt it's as good as the other. They also pay A LOT less, about 23K I'm guessing. The good things: no dress code, they go bowling every wednesday in the middle of the day "just to keep things laid back and fun", and being a part of a small team means that my input is definitely heard and could be implemented if need be. And by very laid back, the founder and co-founder (husband and wife) and I were all playing with Koosh balls during the whole interview, and the most important question was "What is your favorite cartoon?" This place is also only 10 minutes away.

CLIFFS:
1. Got two job offers
2. Large company 30-45 minutes away will pay me more, has more benefits, and more opportunities for advancement I think.
3. Small company is 10 minutes away, and could potentially go big, making me rich. Pay is a lot less, but a more laid back environment, bowling every wednesday!
4. Need to decide soon
5. ...
6. Profit
7. ...
8. Profit more maybe?

What do you all think?

I would probably hesitantly take the large company one. If it were tennis or golf instead of bowling, I might have to reconsider.

What are the small company's plans for going public, stock options, etc.? Most small companies that make it big work their employees' butts off...and depending on how things are structured, you could get rich if things work out or the owners could get rich and you get nothing.

I'm not sure on the smaller company's stock options and things. From first impression, they don't seem like people that would screw over their employees, but there are many breeds, so who knows.
