I just wanted to thank everyone for the feedback I have received thus far. I did receive a fair number of communications from ATOTers, and I'm in the process of seeing if there is a mutual fit.

This thread will drop in a day or so, but I'd like to encourage anyone wanting to break into consulting to contact me. I don't care if you work with/for me or not, but if I can help answer any questions I'd be glad to do so. It's not for everyone, but the rewards are there if it is.

Thanks!

To the person who asked about entry level CS positions. Sometimes the company I work for (large, multinational consulting firm) runs entry level training courses and then hires on most of the people from the course. It's not the greatest pay, but there's plenty of projects with overtime opportunities and good experience gaining as well as advancement opportunities. If I hear of them running one of the entry level courses, I'll make sure I post a thread on it here. I'm based in Atlanta too and that's where I took my entry level training course. So Descartes I wonder if I've ever worked with or near you, I'm right around Midtown Atlanta, what firm do you work for?

Sounds like your company has a valuable program. Experience transcends just about everything else in my opinion, so if someone has to take a paycut in order to get it then it'll pay off even more so in the end. I've had to do it several times in my career, and each time my rebound was greater than the last.

I'm in midtown Atlanta as well, although I used to spend a lot more time in Alpharetta. I can't disclose the client name for various reasons (their reasons; we're not even allowed to advertise that they're our client). If you do want more information though please feel free to PM me.
