YAiT (Yet Another iPod Thread)

For Christmas I got a 2gb iPod Nano. I have sensitive ears, so I don't see myself walking around with it wearing earphones/buds. I have been considering gettiing a clock radio; my old CD-player radio is kind of messed up, and it might be worth getting a new one with a dock for my iPod. Alternatively, I've been considering getting one of those FM transmitters so I can lister to it in the car. As far as I know they don't make an integrated kit for Pontiacs, and I wouldn't want to spend that much anyway. My sister got me $75 in gift cards for the Sharperimage. SI also has coupons off: $50 for $250, $30 for $175, $10-$15 for $75. I'm looking for something of good quality, I would prefer getting it at SI, but they have a limited selection. I've posted the links for my two primary considerations below, but if there are any better alternatives at SI or other places, preferably under $150, I'd appreciate it.

I have never liked the fm transmitters....they always decrease the sound quality too much in my opinion. I always prefered just using the tape style ones.

The RoadTrip is made by Griffin, so :thumbsup:
Sharper Image = :thumbsdown:
Griffin iTrip Auto = :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Man Sharper Image is $15 more than Amazon on that Road Trip. I understand you've got gift cards, but that's insane.

Sadly, built in tape decks are a thing of the past, so it's a transmitter or nothing 🙁

ditto on the SharperImage comment. Their prices are always jacked up, but since you've got the gift card, fire away.

I've seen a couple of the FM transmitters and they work just fine. There was one I saw... Kensington made it I think, that was up around $70, but tended to have better sound quality since it was also a power connector and so is grounded through the car's system. The Griffin RoadTrip seems a good buy, I'd say get that with the gift card.

The clock radio and pseudo-"dock" (a glorified auxilliary cable by the looks of it) would cost you effectively what, like $125? Just still doesn't seem worth it, at least to me.

You could get another FM transmitter and transmit to the radio in your clock radio. That works well, too.

Do you use the cd player in your clock radio now?

Nah. But that's because more than 50% of the time it won't actually play discs like it's supposed to. With a WORKING music player, I would get some use out of it.

the easiet option for a clock radio is jsut a nice set of computer speakers. for some reason people don't understand that the ipods..all of them, have an alarm that will play a playlsit as an alarm....jsut hook it up, turn off the ipod, or have it conencted to a dock or jsut the cahrger + the the line to the speakers adn you are set😀
