i just got my LCD tv recently and it has HDMI input & my directv hd box has dvi output.. how much better will the picture look if i connect the dvi out to the hdmi input? will i even notice? and where's the best place to get the dvi to hdmi cable?

really depends. DVI is great if you have the right equipment and the equipment you need in order to actually see a difference is mega $$$$. With the set up you have (i am guessing what it is) i'd say that if you have the RGB and DVI/HD as options there will not be a noticable difference. If you have teh RGB cabling go with that, if you need to buy the cables get a good DVI cable this way you are ready to go when DVI supported equipment (that is visuably better) is available.

hmm i didn't kno that DVI could to go HDMI, my TV has both DVI and HDMI inputs.

but sadly the crappy cable box i have has DVI output but it does'nt seem to be enabled. screw u comcast

My directv box has rgb out, dvi out, component out, and composite out and s video out

my tv has hdmi in, rgb in, component in, composite in, s video in

right now i have the box connected to the tv with component video cables

i was wondering if it would be better to connect the dvi out to the hdmi in using something like this for example

While you would have a purely digital signal path, you probably won't notice much difference... unless you have a very discerning eye, or like another said, very high-end equipment.

If you're willing to spend $100+ on a cable then go with the HDMI to DVI, it will definetly be the future. If not use RGB, you can get a nice AR cable for rather cheap that will work.
