YAHTT: How large is your TV and how far do you generally sit from it?

We are building a new house, and its almost time for the built-in TV cabinet. I'm really torn on what size TV to get, and I need to decide so we can have the cabinets built accordingly.

The room size is about 20x20, its more a family room than a dedicated HT room. Used for just general TV/Sports/Movie watching, and lounging around. Best guess most seating will be about 14-16' from the screen.

I really like the 55ish" Samsung DLP units, and am thinking that is about the correct size.

Any thoughts?

I have a 32 in...NOT HD.

I sit on my couch which is probably about 6-7 feet away. (Probably not far enough away...LOL)

55" plasma, about 8 feet away. Never is a problem unless watching VCRs or really crappy cable channels. Even then, pixelation is very rare.

HD still looks beautiful as always though. 🙂

37" 1080p LCD - anywhere from 3-10ft.

3-4ft when I'm gaming or using it as a PC monitor. Otherwise anywhere from 5-10ft depending on if I'm sitting on the futon or at my PC across the room.

As a reference I find HD content watchable as close as 4-5ft and SD content around 7-8ft.

I have a 52" HD, and I sit between 5'-6' from it. Probably not far enough, but when I move, I'll probably be up to 10' away.
