I don't have too much cash to sink into this deal, so here's the setup.
HTPC consisting of:
KT266a mobo (On hand)
XP1900 CPU (On hand)
256mb RAM (On hand)
160gb HDD (On hand)
10gb HDD (On hand)
Undetermined sound card (SBLive Value temporarily - have one on hand)
Leadtek TV2000XP Deluxe (On hand)
GeForce FX5200
Intel gigabit NIC
Pioneer DVR-105 (On hand)
Sound system:
Some old school 12" Hi-Fi speakers. Still in good condition, and sound nice (On hand)
Need an amp of some sort - stuff on hand has ungodly bad SnR, can't hear low speech over noise.
Visual:
Linky.
Unconventional, but I believe it will work well for 2-4 people sitting on a couch 10 feet away. Of course the PC's UI will be run at a much lower resolution than is supported, thus wasting the capabilities of the monitor in favor of the ability to f'n see things.
Video/audio source (All on hand):
Old school over-the-air TV/FM Radio
DVD deck
SVHS deck
MiniDV deck (Mwahahahaha - I own you)
N64
PSX
PS2 (To be added at a later date)
XBox (To be added at a later date)
SNES
Sega Genesis
NES
Cabling:
All roll-you-own stuff.
Surplus PSU wire (14 gauge?) for audio cabling - with color differentiation for L/R
Gold plated RCA plugs
Video cabling all using surplus RG-6 coax (Yes- they make RCA plugs that you can crimp onto coax)
User interface:
Wireless keyboard
Wireless trackball
Various console gaming controllers, including several adapted to USB for use in case some nutjob wants to play a PC game and can't use a trackball
