I am starting this thread based on the previous threads about how old when you bought your 1st house thread and also since a friend of mine just made an offer on a house and made me compare what i did to what they did...
post as much as you feel comfortable...purchase price, interest rate, sq footage, how much you put down, points paid, term, your actual closing costs, actual monthly, pmi costs, etc
kinda of curious to see how we stacked up against other buyers...
our new 1950 sq ft house sold for 165k last nov, we put down 5% and paid another point on a 20 yr mortgage so our rate was 5.5%... the builder kicked in $5000 to our closing since we didn't use a realtor so our closing cost was about $6.5k...monthly payment including escrow is about $1600/month (1100 for p&i)...
without factoring in deductible interest on getting a loan to help on the down payment to avoid PMI, it seemed better for us to pay the $60 PMI charge instead of getting a 80/15/5 loan...
me thinks we got a pretty good deal...
