I had made a thread a week or so ago looking for some earbud suggestions. The ones I ended up comming across were the Sony MDR-EX51/81's, and they looked pretty good. Now I've realized that they're too expensive for me at this time, so I'd like to find something else.

Are there any cheaper alternatives to these kinds of headphones?

Na, the 81's are pretty fantastic headphones. Only sort of drawback is that the max volume stops just below permanent-damage-from-long-term-exposure levels. And, well, sometimes I like a little temporary damage. 😉 As far as fidelity, they're umatched by anything I've tried under $100. And the rubber on the cord feels a bit thin.

The headphones I use while running are a pair of $10 Philips sport headphones. Little heavier duty cord and more max volume and only a little less quality of sound. Let me go find the model number.

Nevermind, the Philips aren't technically buds.
 
Ordered them. $42USD, $50CAD. Hope they're good. Anyone think I'll have regrets? 😛

Only reason I'm getting new ones is because my old sony's that came with my MP3 player stopped working. 🙁

Wrong situation. The reason I took the actions I did was not because he was doing something wrong, but because he was bragging about how he made it through school by doing so. He wasn't asking for help, he was asking for answers.
