Yahoo Messenger crashes, can't quit

I broke out my webcam today and tried to start it on Yahoo, but Yahoo messenger keeps crashing and it will not quit no matter what I do unless I reboot the computer.

When I do force quit by task manager (Win XP Pro), it will ask me if I want to end it. I say yes, and it asks if I want to report the problem, but the program doesn't actually quit.

how do I quit the thing w/o a reboot and why is it doing this?

In Task Manager, go to the Processes tab. Look for the Yahoo Messenger process (might be ymsgr_tray.exe, but I really have no idea since I don't use it), select it and press the End Process button.

FYI, doing the formentioned to any process will kill them except for a few system ones. Some programs have multiple processes. Once you killed the process the program will end. To be safe, only end processes that are running on your own User Name; never try killing the ones that are runned by System.
