Yahoo Messenger - Argh, go away spam bots!

Everytime I get onto Yahoo messenger I get a bunch of request from bots to add me to their contact list and I can't make them stop. I get these messages everytime I log on: PIC

I've tried hitting ignore, and deny many times each but still get them all the time. Looked through all the options in trillian and the only thing I can do it "do not accept messages from people not on my contact list" but I guess that doesn't stop friend requests apparently. I tried Gaim instead of trillian and they didn't have any good options either, I even tried an anti-spam plugin for gaim and that didn't work either. It'sa mighty annoying, how can I stop the evil bots?

sorry, no idea. i have the same problem and it's really annoying. It has been less lately, but i haven't been able to completely get rid of it.

Your sn has been captured one way or another by one of those spammers. All you could do is ignore or create a new sn and don't tell anyone.

son of a bastard.

Well, had this SN forever and didn't have this problem before.

Seems like there would be a way to stop them...like an option to automatically deny/ignore all incoming friend requests.

I don't know what the difference between ignore and deny is, but neither of them work.

It may be a num question but what is SN? I've encounted myself 3-4 attemps from bots like that... Or at least I guess because it all happend in one day by foreing people i haven't heard about.

Hmm, good question 😛 - I was thinking SN is like your username but I just woke up and I can't think of what SN stands for.

looks like all those requests are coming from same spammer...all the names have 4 random numbers as suffix. So when u login if the last 4 digits are random number then just ignore them away. Maybe try the messenger (gaim,yahoo,..) that has fast ignore that is one click ignore button. Also when creating yahoo id just add the bare minimum info.

side note: Was reading somewhere in tech news that you can cut down email (blue pills etc type of spam) spam if you put your gender as female.

The obvious question is..why are you using Yahoo messenger to begin with. yuk 😛 I have not seen someone use that in ages.
