I can open Yahoo Mail in Chrome, IE but not on Firefox on my main computer. I can open up Yahoo Mail on every other computer I have no matter what browser I use. It is just the one computer that has an issue with Yahoo Mail. Everything else works great. This is what is causing it. Any ideas on how to fix it?

I would go ahead and do what the error message says to do and check your proxy settings.

In IE, click on the settings "gear" (or click the Tools menu) and select Internet Options. Click on the Connections tab and then click the LAN settings button. Remove the check box from the "use a proxy server" option (or enter the correct proxy info if you actually use a proxy server). Click OK twice, then close and re-open IE and try Yahoo again.

Because that is the easiest way to get to the Windows system proxy settings to make sure they are correct, and I misread your original post and thought you couldn't get to Yahoo in IE.. ;)

In Firefox, click on Tools, then Options, then go to the Advanced tab, then click on Network, then Settings then select "Use system proxy settings" if it is set as anything else, and click OK twice to save the setting. Close and re-open Firefox and try Yahoo again.

Okay, I thought that's what it was but I thought maybe there was something I was missing. I already tried this in Firefox and it was set on that.

I, too, have used Yahoo/Firefox for many years without problems. However, the last few updates to both have made the combination almost unusable. Yahoo has screwed with mail until it is flaky on any browser, but seems to work best with i/e. Firefox is unstable and the slowest browser I now use. I don't understand why either of them had to fix what wasn't broken.

I have been using chrome to open my email but I get so many ads and popups from it. I just started using it the other day for email so it gets little use other than a couple programs I use it for. I checked for malware and there was none as I never get any because I am very careful and have good protection. I don't really like IE either. I do like Firefox but I may have to start liking something else.

I've noticed that since Yahoo redid their whole interface, it has been flaky on and off with firefox, and also even IE sometimes. To me it seems like it is an issue with the yahoo mail site since I don't have any problems with other sites in FF.

I've used Yahoo for years, and still using it daily in Firefox...have never had issues.
