Been using it for about a week...OK, maybe better than the OLD yahoo mail, but I still prefer Gmail...EXCEPT that I'd like to see gmail add the option for folders like Yahoo did...nice to be able ts save email in specific folders...

aren't labels basically the same thing as folders?

Lets say you have a box of everything in your house. Now label them, according to rooms, for example.

Now, instead of labelling them, put them in different boxs, for example, again, according to rooms.

What do you think is easier?

um, in email they're not physical objects, just links. so once you assign them a label, it's the same as putting in a folder because they go to their own page. http://img178.imageshack.us/img178/5561/label8ym.jpg
so if i tag any of my emails "dellf", they'd all go in that "dellf" folder/label (i wouldn't really use a label named "new label sample1". that was just for example :)

for those not wanting to wait for an invite, do this:

not exactly. in gmail you can give a mail more than one label.
for e.g i give mails with photos a label of photo. if its a huge file i also give it label big.
now this email will show up under both labels.

you can't do this with folders.

That is what I meant with my boxes example. I don't know how it works at the moment with e-mail, but if you want a copy of an email in a folder called big, and a copy of the same email in a folder called photos, you can't do that.

In my example, you'd have to have two beds, and only then can you put one in each room, but with labels, you can label one bed as each of your kids' beds (assuming you have at least two kids)

I don't if this is getting more confusing or what. I am getting kind of 'ed
i'm confused at this point also.

can we just agree that labels are easier, more flexible, and more powerful than traditional folders?

I just got it and I LOVE it! I don't think it's slow at all - seems pretty snappy, just like how the regular mail was for me. The new GUI is astounding and untouchable by other free mail services.

Considering paying for Y! now since I know I'll be using it a lot more...plus to get rid of those pesky ads. :p

It looks like the GUI is similiar to Outlook, OWA 2003.
I love it also. I may consider paying for Yahoo Plus as well. I've used Yahoo since 1996, first year I was ever on the internet, and haven't changed since
