Yahoo is renting out games.

I kind of don't think this is worth it, but sometimes I do overlook the obvious. Has anybody had good experience with renting games from Yahoo?

Rent games for 3 days from Yahoo

This kind of gaming business model is new to me. The games are fairly old. Besides, can "anybody" seriously play CIV 3 within 3 day? That game is too addictive and requires more time. 🙂

Software rental isn't a new concept, it goes back to the Apple II days and probably beyond. I don't think the idea is that you finish a game in 3 days, but that you only risk 5 bucks to decide if you want to buy it. That way you're not out $50 if it's a real dog. Plus there are plenty of short games that you can knock off in maybe 6 or 9 days, so $10 or $15 is still a lot better than $39.99

Still, you have to wonder how many people play for 3 days and either return or keep the software and how many install the game, add a no-CD crack and just keep it on their hard drives eternally.

Actually, when I said renting the game was a new concept, I failed to mention that it involved downloading the game instead of holding a cd-rom disc physically to install the game.

Somtimes it is hard to know if you will complete the game within 6-9 days before renting, but yes, I see exactly what you mean by saving money if it only takes 6-9 days to complete the game.
