who will win? if you asked me that 3 months ago, I would have told you google.

But lately, I have found myself going to yahoo because I've been getting better results. The software that Yahoo has bought has been upgraded (where's a picasa/hello update?). Everything isn't in a continual "beta" state (cmon, gmail, google groups, google news, froogle, video, etc). It seems that yahoo's stuff is more centralized (don't need multiple logins). I dunno, it's frustrating that google keeps on developing new things and *seems* to abandon it later. Then again, 6 months from now, msn might be doing something great, who knows?

google

yahoo may be able to buy everything in sight, but they have no creativity or rather, a brain of their own.

how much can you really like a company that spams its own users with 100 emails a day, and the only way to get rid of them is to pay for a spam tool?

I like Yahoo's sports page the best, easy to read and uncluttered unlike NBA home page.

while this is true (I complained about that in a recent thread), I don't think that's grounds to decide which company is going to be more successful "in the end".

Don't mind him, he's just one of the millions of people who would never concede Yahoo is better then Google as an overall website.

Agreed. Creativity will generate its own force much like how scientists thought up splitting the atom and encapsulating that creative thought in a bomb :D

as far as websites goes, Google is not even close to Yahoo (and never was). Yahoo's search is still #1. Let's see how long Google stays where it's at.

i like yahoo's new email interface (the beta, based on looks. still would like to use it first).. I'd use flickr if 1) I could customize the layout (I want ~800x600 to be the default image size and 2) if flickr/yahoo would delete an account when it's deleted instead of just archiving it away.

I had two accounts.. didn't know I signed up for one way back. So I registered the url i wanted before attempting to switch usernames.. and by then, it was too late.. ha. oh well, item 1 was more important anyway.

i use

yahoo sports
yahoo finance
yahoo news

google is kinda like a last resort for something that i am searching. usually i search something on wikipedia. if i cant find it then i try google.

competition is good though.
google also bought a lot of companies (blogger, picasa, the mapping company, etc).
