Yahoo "Companion" / "Toolbar" thingy????

Seems everybody's PC I play with lately has this sucker on it. I typically get rid of it & tell 'em to either Google or Yahoo what they want from the original page.

Most claim they don't know how it got there. (I know some plug-ins try to sneak it in whenever you update......like Shockwave, etc.)

Is it harmful??? Does it really slow things down or not really???

I hate the real estate it uses, but if I notice it has anti-spyware & popup blocker (that sometimes works when ya' don't want it to) but I figure if they like it maybe I should just leave it alone???

TIA for any thoughts/feedback!

OK, thanks!!!

Will do!!!

Funny thing is I ran "Ad Aware" & despite their anti-spyware, the sucker was still loaded with stuff.

Plus I really didn't like the fact that since AT's reply & new-post windows come up as popups, the Yahoo thing blocks 'em............(not an intelligent pop up blocker I guess).........so I think it's worth getting rid of the whole thing anyway, plus recoopin' some real-estate!!

😉

Bye-bye Yahoo toolbar!!! 😀

I remove it. Seems like yahoo products ninja it in, like Konfabulator (aka Yahoo Widgets)

They don't 'ninja' it in, at least not Yahoo Widgets or CCleaner. The option not to install it is clearly presented, and it's just a matter of unchecking a box.
