Yahoo chat won't work!

:disgust: Ever since I installed Sun Java Plug-In version 1.3.1_01 my chat window in Yahoo says: unable to load applet. Try installing new Microsoft VM.
So I installed the latest Microsoft VM and it made no difference. I'm wondering if the new Sun Java Plug-In isn't supported yet by Yahoo. I emailed Yahoo but just got an automatic answer that didn't help me.
I like the Plug-In because it makes my other applets work lots better. So I don't want to uninstall it.
Any ideas? Thanks.
