Hello all, I'm sending in my laptop here to HP on Tuesday for hinge repair. As such, it's *subject* to their HD wiping procedures, and I may be wiping it soon anyways to clean out the crap. I've seen programs before that could get Yahoo logs saved off of your computer in a format you can keep. I need something like this. Anyone recommend one? I need these logs of my gf, my boss, and my best friend. Also some business matters with my side computer repair job. I am hoping just to turn them into .txt or something like that. Please help cause I need one quick..

BTW using yahoo 9.0

Have a look at this link ... it may help

http://www.ikitek.com/products...e-Archive-Decoder.html

And if you are sending a pc to any shop for repair, if it is not an OS or
program issue , as in your case, I would have the tech or the manager
sign a form saying they will not touch any programs or operating systems
installed on the computer. They in no way impact a physical repair and if
they touch them or reformat, I would take them to court.

Why don't you replace the Hinge yourself ? ? ? It is not very hard to do
but without the Model I can't try to find either the manual or part numbers.

Hey thanks for the link I'll check it out. As for a waiver, I don't think that can be done, this is just HP repair. I didn't have the time or knowledge to repair it. I have the 3 yr accidental damage warranty. This is on their dime. Free Next day insulated package shipment each way, and 0.00$ cost to me.

For something as inexpensive as a hinge, I would not send it in.
Too easy to be damaged or messed up either in transit or at the
repair shop. And it will take over a week to get it back for sure.
I would only use the accidental damage warranty for a major fix,
like if it was dropped or the LCD quit working.

OK guys I just found the DAT files and backed those up. What everyone was forgetting (including those programs I was trying to use) is that Vista stores them in a far different area.

That link tells you. For the lazy the Cliffs are:
XP: C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\Profiles\(your profile}\archives
Vista: C:\users\(Computer User)\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (Program Files (x86) for those with 64bit OS's) \Yahoo!\Messenger\Profiles\(your yahoo ID)\Archive

In the Wordpad document i used to make my post firsst I had put Vista in. I see i didn't copy it. very sorry guys.
