Yup the dumbest of the dumb have hijacked yahoo answers and possibly are the reason for the shutdown.
As I have said in multiple threads, nobody wants to advertise to deplorables, nobody wants to deal with them because they are worthless, no successful business wants to be associated with them.
They are truly toxic.

It is just amazing how they flock to every shitty poorly moderated site and fuck it up. Simply amazing how that happens. Rinse repeat until there are no un-moderated places left.
A couple years ago, the online version of the local newspaper shut down their comments section. In the article explaining their reasons for doing so, they described how their research had found that a very small group of commenters using a large number of fake accounts, in violation of the site TOS, had taken over the comments to push a single political viewpoint (not named, but Trumpism) and silence any opposing viewpoint. They also brought up how this small group of trolls were not paid subscribers, and that polling of paid subscribers showed that the vast majority of them avoided the comments because of these uncivil political trolls.
But the great irony was that, in the comments section for the article explaining why the comments section was being shut down, there were the trolls responsible feigning dismay that it was all the left's fault. "If only the left could have been more civil!" cried Right-wing sockpuppet #5644257.
You can't make this shit up.

Peeps still do the 'Hoo?

Why?

Other than a couple of very rarely used email accounts, I haven't been to that site in many years.

I think Verizon just wants to free up space for a supplanted platform. Reddit, facebook, even message boards have replaced Groups(already wiped and turned into solely a database of emails) and Answers.

There are people that still use AOL for email.

The only things still decent on Yahoo are the Finance page (barely) and the fantasy sports. I am sure they will soon shoot themselves in the foot there too.

Yes, and they always seem to find a way. They'll even pop up in the most unexpected places. For example, if you take a look at the user reviews section for movies and TV shows on IMDB. I was reading through user reviews for the TV show "Billions" the other day. While the show gets a high overall user rating, a preponderance of the actual written reviews are deplorables complaining that the show "went to shit" after they introduced a transgendered character in season 3, who goes by a plural pronoun, no less. The review section reads like a torrent of transphobic rage.

Then I started noticing it for other TV shows, like the show "Bridgerton" which ahistorically depicts of bunch of black people as British aristocracy in the early 19th century. Man did that piss off the deplorables.

Sadly, I suspect that IMDB will eventually discover that they have to start moderating their review content. They may even have to discontinue the written reviews if they don't have the labor force to do it.

Then they'll just find somewhere else to take a dump on.

I just looked into an AOL/Netscape account I started over 20 years ago. It's still there, I had 63 new emails from when I checked it a year ago. It was kind of nostalgic, there were emails telling me I could increase my penis size by 50%, that I had won $1,000,000, and that I needed to respond immediately to something or I'd face trouble! Happily, no emails about extending my vehicle's warranty though.

Finance? CNBC. Reuters. BI. Forbes. Even Nasdaq has a news page of sorts.
I need to shop it around again. Been a few years since I've looked.

It's sad, they used to have a lot of good products and just let all of them die.

The first episode of Bridgerton I did have the thought "this isn't very accurate" quickly followed by "who gives a shit, this isn't a documentary or even a historical drama."

The Duke was the best character in the whole show.

Yeah, it should have been a clue that it was a pseudo-historical fantasy when we kept hearing songs by Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift being played on violins at lavish aristocratic balls. We were not meant to take this seriously as history.

Too bad Rege-Jean Page won't be on season 2. I may not watch season 2 because of that.

The 'Hoo used to BE before the Goo.

It got weird with ads. I bailed to the Goo. Then it got weird with ads. Quackin' with the Duck for now.

When did you try it, it has improved a lot since it first came out.
Maybe a month or so ago. I don't remember exactly what I searched but I searched the same thing on Google and Duck, and Duck fed me some absolute horse shit, missing all the best answers to my question. I may try again sometime but I was not impressed to say the least.

All I get on Google any more are shopping links, fuck that noise. I rarely have to try a different search engine, but when I have none of them do better than duck.
