yahdtvt - yet another hdtv thread

I live about 300 miles from the nearest Circuit City, Costco, or Best Buy, so unfortunantly must buy lots of stuff based on reviews. Kinda scary for a huge purchase.

AVSforums looks indepth, but come on, 7000-reply threads for each model TV. I'm not reading that.

I am looking for a new TV, I think rear projection, as it's the best bang for the buck. I have the room, and want a BIG screen. I like the looks of the LED engine of the Samsungs, but am kinda leery of light engine problems, and "millions of mirrors" sounds like it might not be too reliable in the future.

Suggestions on a 56-61 inch TV, please.

Wants:
1. Reliability. A 2 grand TV should work for 10+ years with no problems. (I can replace a lightbulb, though)
2. A nice picture would be good, although I will have limited cable HD channels, so...
3. Decent picture with SD content.
4. better than average viewing angle (I know this is tough with projection)

Uses:
1. Standard Def TV watching for now.
2. Sports (some HD, hopefully more in the future)
3. DVD's
4. Wii

If you want a 50" HDTV, get a plasma. There have already been a few 50" plasma for $999 deals during November; there will be a few more in the coming weeks. Vizio/Samsung/Panasonic sets all clock in under $1500 on most weekends.

If you want a 60" HDTV, get a SXRD or DLP projection; bulb-based sets from Sony or Samsung are your best bet for picture quality and reliability, and both can be had for under $2000 on any given weekend (even lower in the upcoming weeks).
