When Eisenhower said we should build the intersate highway system people screamed it would cost money, too.

FYI- Taxes are going up. Way up. Due to a number of things, mostly that we screwed ourselves by choosing to allow unfair trade with a totalitarian regime that is determined to use its slave labor and government policies to take away a decent living from the American worker, and take our industry.

If you want to fucking protest something, protest that.

And yet you enjoy the cheap products made in China. No China, no cheap computers.

Ok... you keep changing the assumptions/hypotheticals so you're clearly fishing for something. Why don't you just come out and say it?

i don't think i'm changing anything, i'm just trying to figure out how it works... i'm pragmatic, and i want to know how to take advantage of the program since it seems it's going to be put in place...

and the fishing metaphor works real well here, because i have a hell of a time catching a fish, too...

Some people go out of their way to avoid purchasing things made in China, myself included. I do not include Taiwan as Made in China, not yet anyways.

Nothing in my computer was made in China, none of my clothes were made there, etc. I encourage others to do the same whenever possible.

Starting in 2013, flexible spending accounts, which allow users to escape taxes on many medical expenses now, will be limited. There will be a $2,500 maximum on accounts that typically carry $4,000 or $5,000 limits now, and you will no longer be able to use the accounts for over-the-counter medicines.
Hmmm.... I thought BHO told us we'd be saving $2500/year?

Within six months, the plans will have to stop some practices, like setting lifetime limits on coverage and canceling policy holders who get sick. They will also have to allow children to stay on their parents’ policies through age 26 and cover children with pre-existing conditions, but can still deny adults with medical problems until 2014.

Wait... BHO told us we could keep our plan.... but it looks like our plans will change so I can't "keep" my existing plan at all.

maybe... once they switch over to some other plan... if you leave one employer who subsidizes your healthcare ins costs you may still be able to get ins, but the cost may be higher if you want to stay with the same insurer and plan...

I'm leaving my job with a great ins subsidy in two weeks for one that doesn't subsidize my ins at all. But the 30% raise will make up for it.

He's probably confusing the fact that while some motherboard manufacturers do assemble quite a bit of their high end motherboard capacity in Taiwan, like Gigabyte at its Nan-Ping factory, the pcb used in the boards' assembly come from Chinese factories like Gigabyte's factories in Shenzhen.

I seriously doubt he has a complete lack of any Chinese derived parts in his pc.

Bart Gordon voted yes because he is retiring, and was likely offered a high up position with the Obama administration for his vote. We did not get any sweet deals like Louisiana. Our reps did not get a ride on airforce one.

are you saying this was a bribe vote?
isn't that illegal?

you are lucky... lots of folks are getting blown out of higher paying jobs and having to take lower paying jobs... this resetting of wage levels is probably only in its early stages, although it was already occurring back in 84 when aerospace and telco imploded the first time...
