Yahamah CD burner help

I have a 24X lightspeed cd burner from Yahamah and it will not work at all. I am running windows XP, could there be a bios issue with teh drives chips? I have not updated the drives bios ever. I have tried to use Nero, windows xp writing software and EZ cd creator 5.2d i think (most recent updates) and nothing works could my drive be bad?

Is your BIOS seeing it? Just put it in? or been there before and just recently starting failing?

If you have just installed it, look at your jumper settings on the burner.

It was working before, then i had to reinstall xp -long story. Teh rive is seen by my system, btu when i go to burn a disk, teh software opens teh drive and prompts me that there is no disk in the drive. i put another fresh disk in and close teh drive and hit retry but nothing happens. teh light on the dive flashes on and off though- slowyl the green light that is
any ideas?

what version of your burning software are you using...older versions of EZ CD Creator dont like XP, and early versions of nero only (before 5.5.5.1 i think) needed ASPI drivers, which arent built into NT-based OS's
