YAGVT: 1 week in panama compressed into 11 minutes

You were in Panama, and you didn't go to Elite or Elite II? 😀 Guess that's just what us sailors do. Damn I got messed up there. 🙂 That video would be interesting.

Although I have to admit, going through the canal was interesting. It's amazing seeing how much water those things move...

I saw this everyday when I lived there - I miss it 🙁

It's one of the biggest engineering feats in the world - and I drove over it everyday on my way to school.

negative. it is not like I don't know how it works. interesting would be the one from extreme engineering.

exactly, though why do they have to have it do that? Are ocean levels different there?

Slightly and the pacific has a greater tidal range, but mostly it was because of the geography that had to be traversed.

A straight cut (as was orginally attempted by the French) was nearly impossible to make.

A good read on the constuction of the canal is Path Between the Seas by David McCullough.

There was a better video from a ship a while ago. I believe it had the Benny Hill Show music playing too!

People having a momentary lapse of reason. Lots of beds with people making love on them on the beach. Sign of the times. 🙂
