I can get a 9mm Sig P239 with two 8rd magazines, Hogue grips (factory grips included), Galco leather holster, case, manual, etc for $450..it has about 300 rounds through it.

Very tempting..does anybody here have one?

That's a stellar pistol IMO, if you're looking for a carry weapon. I tend to think the Sig Classic series have the nicest trigger feel of any DA/SA pistols, and there's no better-built pistol than a Sig. I personally find the P239 a little too small to comfortably grip - the P228 is much comfier - but I have larger-than-average hands.

The P228 is a full-frame handgun, though -- not the easiest for CC. 🙂

Our armed courier (one of them, anyway), has a P228 and loves it.

No, it's a compact - the P226 is the full-size version.

Actually the Air Force OSI (and, I believe, the other services' plainclothes investigators) carry the P228 - it's designated as the M11 - while undercover.

Oops.

How much larger is the 228?

I saw some P239s on Gunbroker for just over 600 bucks, so I'm thinking this is a pretty decent deal...should be talking to a good friend of mine tonight (his dad owned a gun shop), so maybe I'll get a pointer or so on what I should expect to pay..

I'd say it's a good deal, but in my experience the P239 has softer resale value than the P228, which is generally regarded as the more desirable of the two. Again, the P239 is still a great pistol IMO.

You can compare the guns' respective dimensions here.
