Ok, inspired by ShotgunSteve's thread I finally got around to taking a few pics of my collection.

This is not the full extent of what I own, just a nice little sample. I am way to lazy to get it all out. These are not the best pics in the world due to the old crappy HP digicam I have to work with.

(Anti-gun zealots please post elsewhere or create your own thread instead of crapping in mine.)

This is a custom FAL carbine that I had built from a kit:
FAL Carbine

Cetme rifle from CAI:
Cetme

H&R Arms M1 Garand:
Garand

Romanian SAR1 (AK47):
SAR1

Yugo M59/66 SKS:
Yugo SKS

Russian M91/30 Mosin Nagant:
M91/30

Beretta 96 .40S&W:

I  FN-FALs. They may be big, and heavy, and old...

But GOD the power! They gave you a sore shoulder!

Nice, thanks for sharing your collection. Howz your garand fire?

I shoots very well, though I rarely take it out. The rifle looks like it was rearsenaled then put away for 50 years so it is in excellent condition. I have anther Garand that I use for a shooter, that has much more shall we say character, that shoots just as well.

Are both of your Garands in 30-06? My dad has a Korean-era Garand chambered in .308..

Yes, both are 30-06.

I have been considering buying one of the rack grade Greek Garands that the CMP has now and rebarreling to .308. With all the cheap suplus ammo out there now, it may be the way to go.

It's a dream to shoot -- this was actually originally manufactured with a match barrel in .308.

How much are the CMP Garands (and the new barrel)? I might end up picking one up eventually..

That is an interesting rifle your dad has. I know that the Navy had some of the 30-06 Garands rebarreled to 7.62 NATO in the mid 60s, I wonder if this is one of them.

Here is a link to the CMP.

The Rack Grade Greeks are going for $295. Since I would be rebarreling it, I don't care what state the current barrel is in.

It should run about $100 for the barrel, $100-150 labor, and another $100 to get it refinished.
So, I would have about $650 in it all told. Still less than the $1,000 + Springfield Armory wants for a new one.

I have nearly a grand worth of Galil parts that will (finally) become a rifle come September.:)

Great collection! What year are those Garands? I'm surprised that you fire them, I'd get them insured and sealed and roll up the royalties later :D

Edit:
Wow! And you have a Mosin Nagant too!

What can I say? I'm a History Channel Geek!

The one pictured is an early 50s production. IIRC the other one is a post WWII Springfield Armory in the 4 million serial number range.

As I said, this is just a sample of the collection. ;)

heh how come you never picked up a real g3?? From what i've read the HK guns have better quality machining then the FAL (or cetme...cant rmemeber which one that was)

Oh yeah i hate the bayonet on the SKS, those things are so hard to fold back.... (i always have hard time unlocking it to fold it...my brother has that rifle)

I personally prefer the controls on the FAL to the G3/Cetme.

The kit the FAL is built on was produced by FN, who IMO make firearms equal in quality to HK.

Genuine HK-91s are also pushing the $2000 mark, compared to ~$300 for a Century Cetme.

The G3 was a second choice for Germany after FN wouldn't license them to produce FALs, what with that little European conflict being recent history and all.

Exactly. I found that I really don't like where the cocking handle is way up on the barrel,.

The FAL kit was actually off a G1 rifle made for the Germans.

Not currently. I know they had some they sold to clubs for competitive shooting matches at one point, but I think they are gone.
