About 7 yards (21 ft) from the target.

Target 1 - CZ P-01 9mm - Got my Crimson Trace grips for my CZ P-01 today so I had to go out and try them out. Not sure how many rounds I shot, probably about 40-50 at this one target. All those low shots are from when I was aiming for the center torso (orange spot) target. I then tried to aim for the head target (orange spot) and all my shots were landing right in the main area for the center torso. Curious, I went back in the house and got 3 of my other handguns.

Target 2 - Bersa Thunder .380 - Aiming for center torso and hitting low here also. I forgot to bring another box of ammo up with me and didn't feel like going back to the house to get it, so there are only 14 shots.
Maybe I am shooting low.

Target 3 - Springfield Armory 1911 .45 - Again, aiming for center torso and shooting low. I love the way the 1911 looks and I love the history behind it, but its not my favorite gun to shoot. i don't like the heavy recoil and the grip safety feels like its pinching my hand when i shoot.

Target 4 - Taurus PT99 9mm - Aiming for center torso and hitting it. Also shot a mag at the head target for fun. way better than with the other guns.

Target 5 - Taurus PT99 9mm - Some more shots from the PT99 at another target. again, pretty good. I got lazy and wanted to go back in so on the last mag (10 rounds) I just fired them off really quick, so thats why there's so many in odd places.

Nothing personal, but shouldn't you be shooting tighter groups than that at just 7 yards? You seem to be all over the place there.

Hehe, you need to get some cheaper targets :p Printer paper + stickers ftw, or paper grocery bag + sharpie. Still jerking low on the 45 huh? Not as bad as last time. Don't worry, stick with it. You'll get used to it eventually.

At 7 yards I could easily put 12 out of 12 from my P226 inside the orange circle. Just keep practicing! You're lucky to have a backyard range.

Yea, for 7 yards, that isn't that good. Have you had someone watch you shoot and comment on your stance, grip and pull yet? Those look like something that should be done at 20+ yards at least.

EDIT: Looks like you already know about letargets.com. Get some dummy rounds from them too so you can practice your trigger pulls and make sure you're keeping the gun steady when you pull the trigger.

you're right, its bad for 7 yards. i'm not exactly concentrating on each shot either though, which i am working on. when i'm out shooting, i just want to pull the trigger. i still enjoy shooting, even if i don't do so well. i bet i'd enjoy it more if i was better though.

no help yet because i don't know anyone who can help me. apparently there are some training classes coming up somewhere about 45 minutes away but one class is $160 and the other is $300!! seems expensive for a basic handgun course.

as for letargets, yeah, someone mentioned them awhile back and i finally ordered some last week. i also got some of the ones that tell you why you're shooting a certain way.

well, i was using the printer paper with stickers but i had wanted to get some of these silhouette targets to shoot at too.

yeah, that .45 and I just don't get along, lol. I don't find it very comfortable to shoot. Maybe i need some bigger grips or something. I'm just using the factory grips on it.

Its not exactly a range. I live in a very rural area. The house is about 100 yards or more from the road and is surrounded by forest. There are only neighbors below, directly behind, and to the left of the house. There's just this small area about 75 yards off to the right side and behind my house where I can shoot safely. there's no bench (i do have a protable one though) but it is nice not having to pack up everything and drive somewhere.

haha, yeah, at least with these targets, i can tell if i'd be able to hit a person if i needed too (well, at least in a calm situation anyway). thats about the only thing that made me happy about my shooting tonight.

Maybe next time use a human target? "Get up you puss, it's only the first 20 shots and I haven't even hit the target yet"
