i flew from az to michigan with my 9mm in baggage. i have the original locking case, had no ammo in mags and had an ammo box in the same bag. the worst ive seen them do is plaster your bag with orange tape that says "FIREARMS" which pissed me off. i havent flown for a few years, but ive done it a few times since 9/11

Which is why they get stolen so often, there's a big red flag that says "steal me, firearm inside!"

Even with the more discreet tags, the airport people know what to look for to find firearms.
