YAGunT: Canadian shoots his first pistol

So sue me, I never had exposure to small firearms growing up and thought hitting one of these pay and spray ranges for half an hour would be fun. 😀
I've been considering getting my restricted license, so I can buy a handgun and hit the range with a couple co-workers.
This week, on my honeymoon of all times, I went to one of these ranges where you pay a flat fee and pay for ammo and shoot whatever you want. Didn't have a lot of time so I only shot one, a Glock 34. I understand these are a bit bigger than other Glocks, but it wasn't like a Desert Eagle or anything. It was pretty fun, and I'd definately like something like it even though that 9mm ammo could get pricy for range shooting.
That's my story I guess.

Would anyone know a suitable alternative to the 34, possible cheaper as well? 🙂

what? 9mm bullets are cheap compared to AWP bullets

That's true, but compared to something like a box of .22 shells they're not really. It wouldn't matter, I just wouldn't get quite as much practice with a 9mm gun. 🙂

Sure we do, you just gotta commit to pleasure the prime minister and give up your first born to obtain one, that's all.

if 9mm is expensive then stay away from .40 and .45. how much are you wanting to spend on the gun itself?

Anywhere from $500 on the low end(used/norinco), to $1200 or so.
I can't imagine .45 cal really being that enjoyable to shoot at a high rate, especially in a pistol. Guys there were shooting .50s, didn't look too fun.

look into a Kahr Arms PM40 or PM9. great guns for concealed carry. if your looking for fullsize Glocks are great and are a great value. for your price range i'd look into 1911's but since .45 is a bit big for you try a Sig Sauer

We can't carry up here, so size really isn't a big issue(although caliber is). It's strictly range shooting.
Thanks, I'll do some research on those!

if this is for just the shooting range a 9mm is fine. but for some home protection i would go for a larger caliber handgun. personally i'm a big fan of HKs. too bad they blocked that site here at work or i would link it.
