YAGT: Would you go to lunch with your boss?

If your girlfriend can't (or won't) trust you around other good-looking women, then you need to reconsider the relationship.

If you are unable (or unwilling) to give your girlfriend the truth all the time, you need to reconsider the relationship.

Oh, and girlfriend or not... stay away from the workplace romances.

Good luck!

Some of you guys are assuming a lot from his post... Why can't he just be awkward about being approached on a personal level by a female boss?
If a girl were to post the same exact dilemma, would you tell them they are secretly denying how much they want to pursue a relationship with their 50-year-old boss?
jumpr, I wouldn't email her, I'd just wait until in person and mention that she doesn't have to pay you back for lunch.... but you gotta act clueless, not like you are turning her down... its gonna get weird if she's the easily-scorned type... but if she thinks you are clueless to the whole thing then she is less likely to hold it against you. Maybe you're lucky and she's mature enough to move on. Tell your girlfriend ASAP.

go to lunch. if she makes an advance, be straight. maybe you're just a cool guy at work she's comfy around you. doesn't mean she wants you!

good luck. be honest but receptive to the possibility that she just might think you are friend material.
What worried me (see above post with my decision) is that she's already made two "advances" on me, and I'd only be egging her on with a "yes" to lunch. Then, if things were to get even more out-of-control, I would have to reject my boss' advances, and it could result in a bad situation at work.

Exactly. You are stopping a situation before it happens. You can be friends with her, as long as it stays that way and you are not uncomfortable again.

Be careful with your girlfriend. Don't make it out to be this big situation...play it down and be simple and honest. 🙂

Word to the wise, you are playing with fire if you honestly believe you can have a strictly platonic relationship and keep mr. happy in the pants. Buck up, she is your boss - if you find interest, then maybe you're too young to be in a relationship... you're still a student, no worries, have fun!

Whatever you do, be honest with yourself. If you respect your job, don't pursue it. If you're gonna marry your gf, don't pursue it.

Hrmm...i think we should start a ATOT reality show!

That sounds like a great idea until you realize that the "reality" of ATOT is teenagers spanking monkeys.

See... if you were an Ohio State student... you would know that you would just hit both of them and be a happy man😀

But... you go to Michigan😛

I see a raise in your future.

I see a pink slip and I don't mean the one under her skirt. She is trying to figure out why they pay him so much.

She gets paid way more than me, and does much less work than I do. 🙁

And she will get a bonus when she saves more money by reducing employee expenditures. I.E. you get replaced by a half priced goon.

Sorry, I don't think anyone would want to work for $4.25 an hour. 😛

I'm going to be on campus this Friday, just give me her number and I'll make her forget about you 😉 hehe, jp. But seriously, no one knows her intentions except for her, and you for the most part, and no matter what, tell your g/f what's going on, see what she thinks. If you're worried about your job at DPS, tell someone above her what you think is going on, just incase...before the lunch and whatnot, I mean.

Lastly, does she know if you have a g/f? Ask her what days she's free, and then say "oh, I actually can't do Thursday, my g/f and I usually have lunch together on our break between classes"

Good luck. 🙂

imho, i would advise against going out with someone you work with... cuz when sh!t hits the fan, you gotta deal with that person day after day after day... especially if she's your boss...

but that's just my .02 on it...
