I'm off during the day tomorrow, and I get paid, so I'm going to drive around to a few places and see if I can pick up some ammo. Gonna hit 3 different Walmarts and an Academy.

Not sure where else to get ammo locally, actually. Any LGS is way over priced.

If I am an ammo maker now I would pay Obama to say "tighter" and "guns" in the same sentence. Or conspire a Boston bombing 2.0 or both then laugh my way to the bank.

Lol what douchebags.

There is no ammo shortage, just like there is no PS3/Wii/etc launch shortage, its just people buying 10+ and putting them on ebay/gunbroker/craigslist/armslist/etc

Fuck 0 day resellers. You have B&M stores working hard to get goods to people at the market/MSRP price and STILL profit and asshats have to go in and screw everybody else by buying up everything so there is no competition then squatting on .22 for $100 a box. Then they look you in the eye with a pretend dumb look on their face "well you cant get it anywhere else" while they try and hide the stack of Walmart receipts in their shirt pocket.

Can't wait till shipments start flooding stores and they cant afford to keep up buying it all fast enough to keep it off the market, much less sell their own stock.

Yeah it's a free market and all that, still doesn't mean they aren't douchebags.

This whole time I've been stockpiling from Cabelas/AimSurplus/Brownells/Midway/Walmart/Sportsman's Guide/Warehouse, etc and all the places that either jacked up prices (other than cases where the manufacturer themselves marked it up), or didn't limit stock per customer per day (ie: they had no prolems knowingly selling their entire stock at once to resellers/first person in line while telling everyone else to go home) will never see a penny from me.

On the bight side it's awesome to see how many people actually voluntarily remain civilized and fair and keep prices unchanged and limit stock to serve as many customers as possible. I wont complain about paying $11 for a box that should be $10 (10% markup) when everyone else is trying to get $20+

Hehe that PMC 308 is the best price ($256 shipped for case of 500) on any ammo of any caliber that I've seen in a long time, not just since Dec.

Yea, thats the problem, EVERYONE is stockpiling. People are going way overboard. There is going to be an epic ammo crash.

Stupid UPS. For whatever reason this week their drivers decided that my address didn't exist. I had two shipments coming in, one from Kingston and the other from Midway.

The Kingston order was for an RMA and luckily they printed my cell number on there so UPS called me to tell me that they couldn't deliver it. I can kind of understand this one since I use one of those pack and ship places to mail things, and they don't print your return address on the boxes so Kingston had to use my RMA info, fine honest mistake.

The Midway order was for 1000 rnds of .22 and they ended up marking it return to sender. Luckily I contacted Midway and they'll resend it when it arrives on Monday, otherwise they just restock it for a refund if you don't contact them. I have no idea how this happened, I've ordered from Midway 6+ times without issue.

Not overboard. CA is about to pass a 10% ammo tax on top of sales tax. IIRC, eight other states are looking into doing something similar. Also proposed in CA is a $0.05 per bullet tax, ammo limits and registration, and ammo licensing requirements.

Today was fun:

tjBXP8kxWQF7iEf7GbT1FM-MgxINwfEZza5oiQsCa0c

LGS had an entire palette of the 5.56 cans for $219.

Not the $150 I'd like from a couple years ago, but good enough in this climate.

Yeah the prices have definitely increased, and I don't see them getting any lower. Look at what happened to 7.62x39 a while back.

I wish I had more stocked up...

Nothing too exciting today. Just three boxes of 7.62x51 and a box of 9mm. Still, the prices were actually decent, and 160 rounds total is better than nothing.

I knew I should have picked up a couple of crates back when I made my first order. O-well....

Yeah local shop today had EVERYTHING it was pretty impressive. Shelves were stacked and an entire pallet of M855 420 rd cans, several cases of 9mm anything from Gold Dot to HST both 124 and 147, hydra shocks, UMC 115gr ball, etc. Bricks of .22LR even. Was pretty incredible. Maybe the 3 per person per day limit will be lifted soon.

Should have taken pics.

Even better I was in line with about 10 other people when the door opened, and after we were all done the shelves were still pretty well packed. It was awesome.

Lucky for you guys. :(

The shops here have at least been keeping .223 / 5.56 on the shelves regularly, .308 fairly often, and 9mm on occasion. I haven't seen 22LR since this whole fiasco started, not even rat shot. 40S&W has been fairly easy to find, while 45 ACP is a bit more difficult. It figures, I don't have a .40, but I do have pistols for 9mm and .45. :p

I also haven't seen much for defensive ammo anymore. Luckily I bought a bunch when ammo first started getting scarce (everyone else wanted FMJ, I had plenty of FMJ but needed more JHP), but I've tested several boxes since then and I'm starting to get low.

I've been buying premium JHP self defense ammo local for less than most places on line are selling ball even when it's the lowest price on gunbot/slickguns/etc and actually a good deal. Kinda sad.

I'm paying $28 a box of 50 for Federal HST .40 180 gr P40HST1 and $24 a box of 50 for the HST 9mm 124/147 gr P9HST1.

No maybe not, averaging 40-50 cents a round for HST, good deal on ball is what 35 cents these days?

Best deal for me lately has been the PMC Bronze 308/7.62 NATO for $256 per case (500 rds) shipped, eg $10 a box for new production brass case commercial .308. Hell even Tula 308 is almost $10 a box now at Walmart, but I still need to buy that too because my tight chamber PTR91 loves steel.

I had a yard sale today and I made $564 total selling extra ammo. Posting on craigslist that I would have 22LR, 9mm, 38 special. and .45 ACP available was worth it, people showed up an hour early.

More good news, picked up another 5 boxes of 50 9mm ammo at Cabela's for $14.99/box. I think this ammo shortage is getting much better. We maybe past the worst. Cabela's had quite a bit in stock when I was there.

This. The only shortage right now is greedy dickhole individuals being the first in line somewhere every morning to buy everything for the sole purpose of keeping it out of stock so they can flip it at 3x the market price, which I might add constitutes arms dealing without a licence.

Its legal to sell ammo.

My local Sportsman's Warehouse had a lot of Federal 9mm in stock as well. Saw a ton of ammo there when I was picking up my Leupold Mark AR scope.

Fire is over exagerated. Without a chamber to contain and direct the pressure, the bullet is to heavy to go anywhere. Worst you'll just have brass and primers flying a few feet, most will just crack, rupture, and fizzle.
