Dating is a TCP connection:
SYN - Hey, let's go out!
SYN ACK - Let's go out? Ok, let's go out!
ACK - We're going out 🙂
At this point during the process, an understanding has been established, and real communication can begin:
GET / HTTP/1.1 - One party in the conversation clearly wants to "get" some. Alternatively, the HEAD method can be used.
This can elicit a variety of responses, both favorable and unfavorable:
200 OK - This is an ideal response
100 Continue - Oh yes, more!
Sometimes you get errors:
404 Not Found - Clearly, you want something that isn't there. Perhaps you're dating a transsexual?
302 Redirect - "This is my friend Suzie, she wants to play..."
403 Forbidden - Cockblocked
401 Unauthorized - Religious fanatic, requires marriage or worse.
503 Service Unavailable - It's that time of the month... damn
500 Internal Server Error - She's preggers...
Of course, there's also the breakup:
If the breakup is graceful and mutual, the connection is terminated on both sides with mutual FIN and ACKs, but if it's not, say for example one side wanted HEAD and got a 401 response, the connection could be RST.
