YAGT: What do i do now?

I was at a party on Saturday night and I met this girl there. She came in a group of 3 of them. I ended up talking to her for like 2 hours and then one of her friends came to tell her she wanted to go. One of my friends had been with one of her friends and told me that she was talking all snobby about how the girl I was talking to had a boyfriend and so she wouldn't want anything to do with me. Anyhow, he offered to pull the evil friend aside to make sure she didn't set a block and so I could get the girl's number. She gave it to me and I doubt it is a fake since she put down dorm + cell (who makes up 2 numbers).

Anyhow, I assume it is safe to take her giving out her number as a sign of interest despite any alleged boyfriend. I have not been in this situation before and was wondering the best way to proceed. I have yet to call her. I was figuring I'd wait until Wednesday or Thursday and so I may get shot down right off the bat. However, I will be confident and assume that I will not. Any suggestions about how to proceed?

Definitely call her, but there is a good chance she has a boyfriend. In college I met a lot of girls who I would talk to and get numbers from who ended up having boyfriends...so don't get your hopes up. They usually think it is easier to let you down over the phone than in person at the end of a night (easier for them). Anyway, a few of them became really good friends of mine and I ended up dating one or two after they broke up with their boyfriends. Just call her expecting her to have a boyfriend and maybe think up some way you guys can hang out that isn't a date or something.

Don't let third party information decide the course of what you do. Do what you would have done if you never heard of a bf. But be sure you find out from her what her status is.

Yeah, the sum response of this thread is who cares if she has a bf. That is what I figured. I guess I'll see whats up in a few days. I figured I'd ask her to come with some people to a Less than Jake show on Friday so that its not as threatening but still more than nothing.

LOL, excellent analogy! I agree completely! Most of the girls I've met lately seriously go from boyfriend to boyfriend, nonstop. You'd figure they'd want a breather now and then, but nooooooo!
