YAGT: Waxing, necessary or not?

Is it necessary for a girl to wax every month or so in addition to the frequent wash? I don't care about my girl not looking like she's fresh from the dealership, but I don't want her to start looking old anytime soon.

I live in Vancouver, where it's not hot in the summer and not cold in the winter. Summer sits around 25 degrees with a sun that's certainly not the most potent you'll see around. Winter is usually a bit above 0, but it does fall below and there is snow so there is some salt, though not a huge amount.

Just wanna keep her lookin reasonably good. =)
