YAGT: Thinking cap time

Over the past few months I've witnessed some interesting events and I can't come up with a plausible explanation. So I turn the evidence over to you, ATOT:

Background: I live in a dorm where each suite has 4 bedrooms, a kitchen, and a livingroom.

Players: My roommate and his (ex?) girlfriend who lives in the suite next door

3 months ago: roommate and girlfriend begin fighting frequently. From what I can overhear, he thinks she's cheating on him.

2 months ago: roommate and girlfriend break up, and he moves out. When I ask why, he says something to the effect of "too painful to stay". /me 😕 He still comes back every now and then to work on a project with his classmates who still live in the dorm

starting 1 month ago: the (ex?) girlfriend starts sleeping in his empty bedroom sometimes. She just brings a pillow over and takes naps. I think she stayed there overnight a few times as well.

tonight: I hear the ex-girlfriend come in so I go out of my room to get a drink of water (investigate) and I see that his bedroom now has some basic items in it (not his) and sheets on the bed (also not his). Girlfriend comes out of the bathroom in pajamas, goes in his room, and shuts the door.

WTF?!?!??! It's like they got divorced and she got to keep the house, except she has her own house next door. I'm at a loss.

Edit: I say (ex?) girlfriend because I see them talking at school sometimes and they have the "we're being idiots but we're too proud/stupid to make up" look on their faces. Or at least he does.

Both Legally Retarded seniors.

Fixed

Lets see.... The guy thinks the girl is cheating on him and leaves her because of that.... the girl becomes your neighbor and don't seem to be getting any after all.
I see a window of opportunity, my friend.

what puzzles me is why she's sleeping in his room when her room is right next door. it's not like they're hacing sex in there or anything, he's nowhere around.

Most likely explanation is that she misses him. This could be the case whether or not she actually did cheat, which is not clear.

i'm also interested as to why the 3 other dudes let her walk in whenever she wants. the "bro's before ho's" concept appears to be lacking in this situation, unless they are being nice in the event of a kiss-and-make-up situation.

Ordinarily I might think that, but I see her talking to him at school a couple times a week, probably more.

She's not bothering us or anything, it's not like she hangs out in the living room, uses the kitchen, etc. She just walks in, makes a beeline for his room, and shuts the door. You'd never know she was there if you didn't notice her come in or leave.
