Another good source of info on the XDm, is on Hickok45's youtube channel. He shoots a variety of pistols and has spent some time with the XDm as well as the new 5.25 barrel XDm. I don't personally own an XD or an XDM but they look like nice firearms. I can kinda echo some of the complaints in here about the "misleading" part. I'm certain that they make excellent firearms.....they wouldn't be as popular and well-liked if they didn't. I just think that when something says "Springfield Armory U.S.A." on it......and then it says somewhere else on the firearm "made in croatia"....that's a bit of a disappointment. That's just my personal opinion so feel free to agree, disagree, or ignore it. I think if they just marketed them as "Springfield Armory" and left out the "U.S.A." part......I'd be more understanding of it. There's just something that kinda rubs me wrong in a patriotic way to see something with "U.S.A." stamped on it and know that it isn't made here. Just my .02.....

I picked up a Smith and Wesson M&P 45 over xd it felt so much better in my hand and it was made in the USA as opposed to croatia.

It's the company name...and the company is based in the USA. it doesn't mean it was made in the USA.

I realize that it's the company name. I think a lot of people have just come to think that when things have a name followed by U.S.A. on it, that it's generally regarded that it's made here. As I said, it's just a patriotic thing, nothing actually against their product other than the name. Again, that's just my opinion though, and I don't expect it to mean anything to anybody else.

Does not really make it any less compact. It's uncomfortable to shoot the original way, especially when the full magazine supports all fingers. You will not shoot a gun as well if you know it doesn't feel right.

that also not what was posted in the OP

either way I thgouth it felt weird when I first shot my g19 w/o the pinky extension, but my groups with and without told me it didnt matter and if you 'cant shoot' without it, its you and your technique, not the gun :whiste:

I got an M&P just because I liked the feel of it and how it shot. It definitely feels higher quality than an XD. Being completely designed and built in America is a bonus.

Not that the barrel needs to be that awesome in a compact shooter, but I made a few notes this weekend. Me and a bunch of buddies went shooting all day on Saturday. Our tradition is to help clean every gun we shot, despite who the owner is. So I stripped down a few M&P's and XD's. I have to say, the build quality is amazing. Looking down the barrel after cleaning/oiling is something else on the M&P. It's like it's lined with mirrors. Cleans up like a nice rifle barrel.
