I've been dating my SO for over a year. We're both 20. We have a serious relationship and have discussed the possibility of marriage. However, if she were to expose to her parents that she was in a relationship with me she would get disowned by her family (seriously). She is an odd religion that doesn't allow it's members to date outside their religion and doesn't accept converts. I guess there's nothing that you can tell me that I don't already know... but the situation sucks.

We're planning on moving in together when I get my associates (less then a year), I cannot post pictures. Sorry fellas.

Ouch. Psycho religious parents are bad enough when it's a mainstream religion - when it's one of "those" religions, it's a disaster in the making.

All I can say is don't pressure her - it is her parents who'd be denying her existance/shunning her/stoning her to death (depending on how f*cked up they are)

What kind of religion doesn't accept converts and ostracizes members for dating outside? Sounds like the Branch Davidian Cult. More info please. I'd hate to see you go up in a blaze of ATF glory.

There was this whole thing from Hinduism about two people that had been murdered cause they were from separate castes, but loved each other... And it was their families who did.

This could be a similar situation... :)

She's not a part of that religion. She was born into in and has never even attended "church" (or whatever it is that they do). It means practically nothing to her. It's just her parents religion. I just feel bad cuz if things end up not working out then she's disowned her family and will have no where to go. Obviously I don't think that will happen considering I want to marry the girl... but still. Anything's possible.

When my SO abandons her family I will own a gun (don't yet). But I'm buying a Glock 19 soon for targer practice/home protection. SO will know how to operate the firearm. I also practice JKD so I'm proficient at hand to hand combat.

This is kind of an all or nothing situation for her. Obviously there isn't much of a decision for you to make. She needs to decide of you are more important to her than her family. If she picks you her family bounces her. That is a f'ed up situation for her to be in. I hope things work out for the two of you btu I also hope you realize just how bad the deck is stacked against you right now.
