It doean't matter what we think or what you think, because it won't match what the girl your kinda seeing thinks. And obviously her opinion on the matter is the only one that counts...

Don't take my word for it...but I think..

Seeing someone: just talking and hanging out (not really anyting serious)
Dating someone: might actually be the same as "seeing" someone...maybe a little more serious?
Going out: boyfriend/girlfriend status

I could be wrong...I'm in the same boat as WinkOsmosis...I didn't really start dating till college.

I still hear these terms in college. I'd say Native Sunshine is fairly accurate. I think part of the problem is that there really is no uniform standard of definition for these terms. I may submit an RFC later on this. :p

From what I observe though,
seeing is no committment, just an expressed interest to get to know someone more, maybe hanging out a bit more, maybe "hooked up".
dating is an implicit committment that is not always observed, you go out a few times, have a good time, maybe having sex.
then boyfriend/girlfriend is explicit committment.

I think dating is non-exculsive, whereas going out is exclusive. Seeing is just hanging out? or synonimous with dating?

I'm out of college and i still use these terms. Hey, i think it doesn't matter. But here's another one to throw up in the mix:

Talking. As in "I'm talking to someone"

I kinda agree with Native Sunshine, but I would put "Seeing someone' ahead of Dating someone. To me, 'seeing someone' means boyfriend/girlfriend stuff, Dating means sex, sex, and more sex. Oh, and maybe taco bell once in a while ;)

edit: sorry, i meant to say I think Talking is just talking and hanging out, no making out or nothing. no exclusivity.
