Which caliber would you choose for hunting in North America. I like the 7mm as its a touch bigger bullet, but the 30-06 is the de facto hunting round in North America. Also, it has a much high FPS as well as a much better selection of ammunition and flatter trajectory.
So, which would you choose?

7x57. I believe thats what it is, it MAY be a 8 or 6.5mm, not actually sure. Its at a gunsmith now to confirm. I dont read German, and wasnt about to do a trial and error to find the true caliber. As of now I assume 7x57. If its 8mm I may keep it, but if its 7 I may go to 30-06. Looking for other opinions.

actually, a 7mm bullet = .284", a 30-06 is .308". Given a choice, I would go with the 7x57 over the '06 for medium sized game (deer, antelope, etc.).

Yep. And from what I can tell has a better trajectory too. Which is why I'm thinking of getting it sized to a 30-06.
