Just picked up this gun at the Academy for $429 before tax. It's an amazing little gun. Won't be able to test it out till this weekend when I'll have some free time. Was wondering if any of the gun owners in here has this piece and what is your thought on it? The reason I chose it is due to its glowing reviews, also will probably be the gun I'll carry concealed at some point down the road and the minimal amount of maintenance involves.

If by amazing you mean amazingly worthless I agree. I used to own a model 642 airweight. Good luck hitting anything out past 10 yards with it and it isn't exactly fun to shoot either.

past 10 yards, isnt that outside of the threat zone anyway? I have heard that it does kick hard due to its light weight, we will see.

Probably. I just never much cared for shooting it so I got rid of it. I have a bunch of other guns so I just sold it and I bought something else I wanted more.

It's a great backup gun but the sights are poor, the light weight frame and short barrel make it punishing to shoot, especially with +p ammo, and it only holds 5 rounds.

I carried a 3" S&W 60 for a while... my hands are just too big for a J-frame and I didn't shoot it well. I would think a 2" would be worse. I had a set of Uncle Mikes on it, maybe if I would have changed the grips, but going to bigger grips means... well, it's bigger.

I eventually went back to my Colt Gov't .380, and now a Kahr CW9... automatics I CAN shoot!
