Dont underestimate the 223/556.

Agreed. I know that the M-16 is capable of great accuracy. My dad worked with the Marine Corps Rifle Team when he was CO at Weapons Training Battalion and the stuff he told me about those guys was amazing.

Mini 30 and AR10 are not compatible rounds, so that makes no sense.

AR10 is not very common, which means expensive mags, parts, etc.

I guess I missed the part where he said he was buying two rifles and that the ammo had to be compatible between the two platforms.
What I meant was, if I was looking at something in the .30 caliber range, it wouldn't be a mini 30. In fact, at some point I will get an AR 10.

One of the best looking rifles I ever saw was a stainless mini 14 Rancher with a folding stock. Wish I would have bought it. But I love my M4.

Because the bolt catch release is probably too hot to hit.

He's wearing gloves though, and my experience was a slight tap would send the bolt forward. It just looks retarded and it bugs me since video games also include that racking back of the charging handle on M16 variants each time a magazine is loaded.

Just a pet peeve I guess.
