YAGT: Recommend a good ammo box...

Well, for those who remember my previous thread....
Did some searching. Have come across 2 basic types.
This which is simple plastic and
This which is metal.

I assume the plastics arent good for long term storage. The metals look much better for that task but was wondering if thats a good brand or if theres ones available that are a bit cheaper.

Any surplus metal ammo can will be good.

Yea, surplus .50 cal cans should work fine. They are fairly cheap to.

hell yea. Nothing wrong with that. I buy my ammo in cases of 1000...i keep them there until they are ready to be shot. No need for special "storage" containers...unless you are going hunting for like a week at a time. Then maybe I could see it.

Or if you plan on storing it for 10+ years. Cardboard isn't going to cut it, you need something watertight.

You might also try http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/ for more variety and truly surplus (used) ammo cans.

Search the keyword "ammo box" and you'll get all types of variation on small boxes.

Search "ammo can" and you'll get the big green cans in a variety of sizes (including a six pack of 30 calibur cans for about $20).

yeah I try to go to the range at least once a month and fire off a hundred rounds so I should go thru this case in a couple years or less. 'try' is the operative word there because I haven't gone yet this year. Glock 19 btw.
