She really doen't have a boyfriend. She's just telling you this as a polite and oblique way of pushing you off. Even if she really did have a b/f, if you were all that she'd drop him in a heartbeat for you..

Yeah, that sounded like a blow off answer to me, or perhaps a "test" to see how you would react. A nyway, what did you say when she told you that?
 
I heard her saying she had a boyfriend to someone else, so it wasn't like she was lying to me.

I don't remember what I said in response. We were joking around at the time.

you should just ask her out anyways, and if she really does have a BF, well, you'll know and you can move on. And at least she will know you have an interest in her and maybe sometime later things might work out.

That is the story of my life. I know exactly how you feel.

I once met a girl in college (let's call her Sarah) through an acquantance (let's call him Bob) that I almost immediate fell in love with. She had looks and personality. Bob and Sarah had been dating for a year. Sarah broke up with Bob halfway into the school year. I immediately went for Sarah. We went on dates but never officially dated. I took her to dinners, movies, and theaters. I would visit the coffee shop where she worked frequently and we talked on for hours. I was pretty confident that I was gonna be the new bf for her. Well, Bob couldn't get over her. He was trying to win her back while I was trying to work on her. Bob would visit the same coffee shop. In each others presence we would give each other dirty looks. All is fair in love and war, right? Sarah decided that she wouldn't pick either of us because we use to be friends (according to her) and she hated the fact that she was the cause in our rift. In the end, Sarah ended going off with some guitar player for some unknown Seattle band. Oddly enough, Bob and I made our peace afterward.

Fast forward to present day. A family friend of mine, whom I haven't seen through my entire college life, moved to the same city as I along with his gf. We start to hang out again. His gf is one of the most gorgeous and likable woman I have ever met. When we go to clubs, if her bf is not around, I end being the one fending off guys hitting on her. Since I'm the trusted family friend, of course, I can't touch that. You can't imagine how painful it is to be a guy.

All the good ones are taken, I tell ya.

i know exactly what you are talking about, every freaking person in the college has a gf cept for me and all the girls, even the fugly ones taht i dont like have bfs. just cant win damn it. oh well, at least i have a massive collection of jessica alba and eliz pics thanks to rh71.

worked for me, asked a girl out, she already had one, waited about 2 months, she asked me to prom. i went out with her, talked to her everynight, then i ended it cause she was a physcho and would not stop talking about her ex

Your friend thinks your gay. Most straight guys know that you dont let your straight friends pal around w/ your girl alone.
