what really sucks is making an idiot scratch on a brand new 1911.

First thing I'd do with a new 1911 is take a file to the slide stop so that's not an issue.

OMG, forgot to mention...there are some parts of the handgun I had no fucking idea how to even reach lol. Little nooks and crannies everywhere.

Picks. Also, q-tips can be useful.

Well, i like the stock finish. I'm a little annoyed because I dont use the safety, so that mark would never appear there in regular usage for me. If i wanted to sell it, i'd have to lower the cost too. I may send it in later.

.... you're joking? I hope so, because CZ would probably laugh at you for making a warranty claim on that. Do you not think the gun was tested at the factory? Metal-on-metal parts wear, that's just how it is.

Think he was referring to preventing the idiot scratch, not the wear on your cz

Well, you suggested youd file down the safety on a 1911 so that wouldn't be a problem. I didn't even have that chance lol. So I feel like you're saying two conflicting things.

You're comparing different things. An "idiot mark" on a 1911 comes from user error when reassembling the pistol. It's perfectly possible to reassemble them without making an idiot mark, you just have to be careful. The mod I'm talking about just makes it easier to do so.

If a NIB 1911 had an idiot mark, then yeah I would not be happy - because the manufacturer fucked up. You're talking about normal wear. And FYI, the last 1911 I bought had/has a slightly worn place under the slide stop, just like your CZ... because that's perfectly normal.

Yikes, that is quite the freaking wait! Congrats man!

Wait for what? To go shooting again....that part sucks. 7 months in Cali and I've only gotten to go shooting twice and both were when i flew back home. I miss my guns! Or for the suppressors....6 month wait for paperwork is lame...but not much you can do about that.

Wow, I also heard they weren't making the 45 Tacticals anymore. Nice find.

Thanks. Not sure if they dont make them anymore or not....though i would think they do since its still a fairly new gun. They do still list it on their website so i dunno. I know the FNX line is discountinued (or so ive heard)

I do know nobody seemed ot ever have the tactical in stock. Was about to order it online but luckily found it local :)

That's what I've heard online

FNPs are being replaced by FNXs. The difference, I have no idea.

Guess i had it backwards. I actually knew that at one point when i was looking. I do remember now though cause the FNX-45 hadnt been released and the tactical hadnt either.

Either way glad i got it...looks bad ass with the osprey45 on it.

Difference is all internal if i remember right. Just different parts or something.

I'm here to dispel the rumor that Magnums are only for black guys.

Those Hogue grips you have on there? How do you like the finger groves? I'm thinking of getting some for my wheelguns :)
Yes, those are Hogues. I love the finger grooves; I have medium-sized hands and they fit great.

I pretty much get Hogue finger groove grips for all my guns if they make them. Wood or rubber; both work well.

Man, those grips are fucking awesome looking! I've heard that GP100 is a tank.
The Hogue grips are definitely worth it, and not too expensive (around $50-$80 depending on the finish).

Here's a few more of the GP100. If I didn't have the Alaskan, I would probably keep it.

What are your thoughts on monarch ammo vs Winchester white box ammo?

The prices always seem to be the same with Monarchs, but not Winchester...

In many/most cases Monarch ammo is just russian steel cased ammo, exactly like Wolf or Tula. Which would put it below WWB

i love the gp100 series. just a beast of a gun built to take magnum levels of punishment.

if it ever came out with a 5" barrel i would buy one in a heartbeat. but i will likely have to hunt down an old s&w 625 5" before i can even think about a ruger.
